The Center for Disease Control and Prevention official says the coronavirus could gain a foothold in the US.
On Wednesday (Yesterday) a director for the CDC said while most cases of the virus are in China, the US should be prepared for it to increase here.
Right now there are 13 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the US.
She said the CDC is taking steps to help prevent its possible spread and prepare if there is an outbreak.
She says that will require the government, the public health system, and communities to work together.
That includes making sure there are enough supplies, such as face masks.
As of Thursday (Today) morning the Wuhan coronavirus death toll stands at more than 1,300 people globally.
The virus has infected over 60,000 people worldwide.
The vast majority of cases are in mainland China.
