According to multiple sources, President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had a White House meeting Wednesday to discuss the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
One of those sources said McConnell guided Trump through the trial format and talked about how Senate Republicans were reacting to recent developments.
A source also said McConnell hasn’t shown the White House the text of the resolution that would set up the trial.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has demanded to see the resolution before sending the two articles of impeachment to the Senate.
Some GOP senators have said they have no intention of being impartial.
Republicans’ apparent goal has been to finish the impeachment trial quickly and quietly to minimize damage to Trump.
