If you’re looking for an excuse to forgo the pots and pans today, we’ve got the answer.
Today (Sunday) is national sandwich day.
You have permission to celebrate by keeping meals simple: two pieces of bread and something in the middle.
Of course sandwiches don’t have to be basic.
They can be gourmet with fancy breads, meats, spreads and cheeses or you can keep it classic with a PB&J.
Historian say the name “sandwich” appears to have originated with British Lord John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, who claims to have invented the concept.
Well the idea may have originated in England but now the sandwich has become one of America’s most popular meals.
My favorite sandwich is the Italian BMT.
My daughter doesn’t care much for sandwiches but my son loves any sandwich but in particular PB&J.
So whether your go-to sandwich is a traditional grilled cheese, BLT, French dip or Po boy, the carbs are A-OK today.
