A second person in Massachusetts has died from eastern equine encephalitis or EEE.
The patient was a man in his 70s.
It is the 10th confirmed case of triple-E in the state.
Three people in Michigan and one in Rhode Island have also die from the virus, bringing the total number of deaths nationwide to six.
EEE is transmitted by mosquitoes and health officials are warning people to take steps to avoid being bitten.
That would include using bug spray, keeping skin covered and staying indoors once the sun starts to go down and at dawn.
That’s when mosquitoes are most active.
