The Bahamas are bracing for another hit from an intensifying storm less than two weeks after hurricane Dorian destroyed parts of the island, tearing families apart, killing dozens, leaving more than 1,000 people still unaccounted for and tens of thousands homeless.
Government officials say they are already stockpiling shelter supplies.
As tropical storm Humberto gets closer, the people and companies helping with recovery say they’re not going anywhere.
US aid personnel distributed relief supplies in Abaco on Friday.
Humberto is expected to bring tropical force winds and heavy rainfall, neither of which the Bahamas needs right now.
Humberto’s center does not appear to be headed for the US Southeast coast but parts of the Florida and Georgia coast could see 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Forecasters say Humberto is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday night but its current track has the storm turning away from the US coast.
