We have an update on the death involving twenty-five-year-old Deaf man Grant Whitaker.
Back in August Whitaker went missing.
His body was eventually found in a remote area in Lake County, California.
Twenty-one-year-old Deaf man Mavrick Fisher admitted to killing Whitaker and led investigators to where the body could be found.
Fisher was arrested and charged in Whitaker’s death.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
On Monday Fisher appeared in Lake County criminal court for an arraignment hearing.
He was provided a public defender.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Fisher pled not guilty to murder charges.
The judge set his bail at $1 million.
After Monday’s hearing Fisher was transferred back to Lake County jail where he will wait for his preliminary hearing.
The preliminary hearing is set for October 23 at 8:15 AM and will determine if the case is going to trial.
