With hurricane Dorian bearing down on much of Florida, it’s hard to know too far ahead of time where and how hard it will strike.
But you can make sure your family is ready no matter what may come.
Here are some helpful tips to get you prepared.
If you live in an area where hurricanes can strike, you need to make sure your hurricane kit is stocked up.
Make sure you have enough nonperishable food and water for three days for each person and pet, along with a week’s supply of medicines.
Since loss of power is likely during a large storm, having multiple flashlights and a battery-powered radio along with extra batteries are a must!
First-aid kits, a multipurpose tool, cell phone chargers and a list of emergency contacts should be added too.
Rain gear, insect repellent and sunscreen will also be useful before and after the storm.
And make sure you have all your property insurance and other important documents stored in a safe, watertight container.
Having these things in place ahead of the storm can make a world of difference for you and your family if a disaster should occur.
