A tense and dangerous scene played out in a North Philadelphia neighborhood last night.
It all started around 4:30 PM when officers arrived to serve a drug warrant at the home of Maurice Hill.
Officials say 6 officers entered the premises and as they got towards the rear of the house near the kitchen, gunfire erupted.
All six officers were struck by gunfire.
Four officers dove out of windows to escape but two others were trapped inside with three other hostages.
The SWAT team arrived a few hours later and were able to free everyone inside.
But Hill refused to leave.
Philadelphia’s police commissioner said he honestly didn’t think you would make out alive because he kept yelling “I’m not going back to prison!”
But after almost 8 hours of negotiating, Hill surrendered and was taken into custody.
Police said that once Hill’s attorney got on the phone, they were able to talk them out.
All of the officers who were shot were treated at local hospitals and released.
Hill is now facing six counts of attempted murder, six counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and a host of other offenses.
