Fifty-five boxes containing the possible remains of US soldiers killed during the Korean War arrived in Hawaii Wednesday.
North Korea returned the remains as part of the agreement between President Trump and Kim Jong Un.
They were sent from South Korea’s Osan airbase to Hawaii for identification.
Experts say it’s unclear what’s inside each box and the process of identifying the remains could take months or years.
But preliminary testing indicates the remains are those of Korean War combatants and are likely American.
According to an anthropologist this is one of the largest unilateral turnovers of remains ever received from North Korea.
