All eyes on Trump after Biden speech
Transcript
With the Democratic national convention over, the Republicans get their turn next week.
President Trump has already fired back after Joe Biden condemned Trump’s chaotic presidency at the close of the Democratic convention.
Trump said “the Democrats held the darkest and angriest and gloomiest convention in American history.”
Trump also rejected Biden’s characterization that America was in a season of darkness and compared Biden to his last opponent Hillary Clinton.
He said Clinton is not a likable person but she is much smarter than Biden.
Trump also told Fox News that he promises to send law enforcement to polling places to monitor voters, which by the way is something he doesn’t have the authority to do.
Federal law prohibits intimidation at polls and makes it illegal for a civil or military federal officer to order armed men to polling places.
The Republican national convention kicks off in Charlotte Monday but because of Covid 19 most of the speeches will happen in Washington, DC.
After closely watching the Democratic convention, Trump urged aides to put an emphasis on live speeches versus taped ones.
The coronavirus pandemic response will likely take center stage at the RNC.
Few speakers have been announced so far besides Trump, the Trump family, Vice President Mike Pence and three Trump supporters who made national news this year.
Trump plans to accept his party’s nomination Thursday on the White House lawn.
