NFL players are scheduled to report to training camp on July 22.
The regular season is set to kick off September 10 with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs playing the Houston Texans.
But hold on football fans!
Don’t break out your tailgating gear yet.
Football may not happen this year.
At least that’s what Doctor Anthony Fauci said Thursday.
The nation’s top infectious disease expert warns a second wave of coronavirus could be coming.
Fauci said “unless players are essentially in a bubble insulated from the community and they are testing nearly every day, it will be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall.”
But the NFL seems more optimistic.
Even though some of their players recently tested positive for the virus, league officials say they’re getting ready to play this season as scheduled and planning on a number of safety measures to include developing a testing program.
