The Trump administration is suing former national security adviser John Bolton to stop the release of his book detailing his time in the White House.
Their lawsuit argues Bolton breached nondisclosure agreements and was risking national security by exposing classified information.
The book called “The Room Where it Happened” is set for release next week.
The book claims that President Trump committed “Ukraine-like transgressions” across his entire foreign policy.
Trump has said he considers every conversation with Bolton classified and the content of those discussions can not be divulged in a book.
Attorney General Bill Barr has said he doesn’t believe Bolton went through the proper clearance process for his book.
The book’s publisher Simon and Schuster issued a statement Tuesday supporting Bolton.
Legal experts believe it’s unlikely a federal court would block a book before it has been released.
It also wouldn’t stop the material from getting out since many journalists have already read advance copies of it.
