Monday the Supreme Court made a landmark ruling protecting LGBTQ people from job discrimination.
On a six to three vote, the court ruled the Civil Rights Act covers gay and transgender workers.
The ruling is expected to have a major impact on millions of workers.
That’s because most states do not protect LGBTQ people from workplace discrimination.
The ruling is considered a defeat for the Trump administration.
The White House had argued that the Civil Rights Act did not extend to claims of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Last week the administration announced it was eliminating an Obama-era regulation prohibiting discrimination in health care against patients who are transgender.
