It was another night of violent protests in Minneapolis over the death of George Floyd.
Around 6 AM Friday morning state police armed in riot gear lined up ready to restore order.
And more than 500 Minnesota national guardsmen arrived in the city Friday morning to help.
They were posted at banks, grocery stores and pharmacies.
Authorities say all of the protesters are of diverse racial makeup but they don’t all have the same agenda.
During the day, there are two groups of protesters.
The first group is community leaders and activists marching peacefully to draw attention to the death of George Floyd and racial injustice in the country.
The second group is people who live in the area who are trying their best to preserve their neighborhood.
But when night falls, authorities say people are coming out who are only interested in shooting, looting and starting fires.
Protesters breached the third police precinct in Minneapolis and set it ablaze.
Others tossed fireworks toward the precinct which was closest to the spot where George Floyd died in police custody.
In the Twin City of St. Paul, authorities say more than 170 businesses were also damaged and looted.
Authorities also say because of Covid-19, everyone is wearing masks and it’s hard for police to tell who is protesting peacefully and who is there to cause trouble.
