Former President Bill Clinton is finally opening up about his affair with Monica Lewinsky in a new four-part documentary that focuses on his wife Hillary Clinton’s life and career.
From 1995 to 1997 while Clinton was president, he had a sexual relationship with 22-year-old Lewinsky who was a White House intern at the time.
The relationship and Clinton lying about it during a deposition led to his impeachment.
Clinton was subsequently acquitted by the Senate.
In the documentary Clinton says he feels terrible the affair defined Lewinsky’s life.
Clinton is also asked in the documentary why he entered the relationship.
He said it was one of many things he did to cope with the “pressure, disappointments and fears of life.”
Hillary Clinton describes how devastated she was during that time in her life but defends her decision to stay with her husband.
She also explained how she told Bill that he needed to tell their teenage daughter Chelsea himself.
The documentary entitled “Hillary” was released last week and is streaming on Hulu.
