This story is definitely for you science lovers out there!
Residents who live near the Drakes Beach shore in central California were shocked to see this.
Thousands and thousands of large, fat worms stranded on shore.
A wildlife enthusiast took pictures and sent them to Bay Shore Magazine for an explanation of what the strange hotdog-looking creatures were and how they ended up on the beach.
The creatures are “innkeeper worms.”
Biologist call them “penis fish” because of their phallic shape.
It turns out these are ancient creatures that date back nearly 300 million years!
And they tend to spend their entire lives buried underground, so seeing them onshore is an extremely rare and shocking occurrence.
Scientists say a powerful storm hit Drake Beach around Thanksgiving, bringing wind gusts of 45 miles an hour and dumping an inch of rain.
They believe the storm broke apart the sand where the worms were buried and stranded them on the shore.
