Earlier this week you may have seen this disturbing video.
It shows two customers assaulting a McDonald’s drive-through employee after getting into an argument over the cost of their meal.
This incident happened in Henrico, Virginia.
But apparently seventeen Chicago-area workers are suing McDonald’s over what they call a nationwide pattern of violence at the restaurants.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday in an Illinois state court.
The employees claim there are more than twenty 911 calls a day from Chicago area McDonald’s.
The lead attorney on the case says McDonald’s stores were not designed with safety in mind.
The lawsuit outlines several incidents that include a customer beating an employee with a wet floor sign and another customer pulling a gun and jumping over the counter.
One employee and plaintiff in the lawsuit says police found a dead body in her store’s bathroom.
But she says McDonald’s never provided any safety training or offered any trauma support.
The company released a statement saying it will continue to make investments in training programs that uphold safe environments.
