The recent withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria has sparked controversy and more events have taken place in the Turkey-Syria crisis.
On Wednesday President Trump made the announcement to lift all sanctions against Turkey.
This occurred after Turkey agreed to halt its attack on America’s former Kurdish allies in northern Syria, ending Turkey’s military offensive that began after the U.S. pulled troops from that area.
While Trump called the halt or “cease-fire” permanent he acknowledged that “permanent” was “somewhat questionable” saying, “so the sanctions will be lifted unless something happens that we’re not happy with.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday Russia and Turkey’s president met to make a deal regarding Syria’s civil war.
The main focus of discussion was the border between Turkey and northern Syria.

Under the agreement, there will be a roughly 18-mile “safe zone” on the border, and Kurdish forces will stay south of it, with the Russian military police and Turkish military patrolling the line.
