The State Department inspector general Steve Linick requested an “urgent” briefing on Ukraine with congressional staff.
The briefing will take place Wednesday on Capitol Hill.
It’s unclear exactly what information he plans to provide in the briefing, but sources say it is connected to documents on Ukraine.
The inspector general’s request came after secretary of state Mike Pompeo accused House Democrats of “bullying” state department officals by calling them in for depositions.
House Democrats said Pompeo needs to stop “intimidating” witnesses.
Meanwhile, President Trump made further comments on the whistleblower who filed a complaint that alleges the president abused his powers.
In a tweet Tuesday, the president said, “Why aren’t we entitled to interview and learn everything about the whistleblower, and also the person who gave all of the false information to him.”
But GOP Senator Chuck Grassley responded saying the whistleblower “ought to be heard out and protected.”
