Hurricane Dorian made landfall today near Hatteras and continues to batter the Outer Banks of North Carolina as a category one storm.
Residents of the Carolinas are facing fierce winds, heavy rain and destructive tornadoes.
Many in the storm’s path woke up this morning to devastated homes and businesses after tornadoes sprung up Thursday.
Tens of thousands are without electricity as power lines are down throughout the region.
Fortunately the storm is weakening and moving out to sea, allowing residents in the region to breathe a little easier.
As Dorian continues to track Northeast, residents in New York will face beach closures due to rip tides.
Parts of Massachusetts are under tropical storm warning where high winds are expected through much of the weekend.
