Some communities along the Florida coast are beginning to breathe a little easier as hurricane Dorian lashes them with wind and rain but passes without making landfall.
But as the storm moves north, Georgia, the Carolinas and Southern Virginia are now on heightened alert.
Dorian is picking up speed and expanding, which means there is greater potential for dangerous storm surge and flooding.
According to officials, storm surge is more prone to large hurricanes so the threat of a very severe storm surge along the South Carolina coast is growing larger.
Meanwhile, in the Bahamas they are facing the grim after effects of the strongest hurricane to ever hit island’s nation.
Several areas of the Bahamas remain underwater.
Officials expect the death toll to rise.
