Right now the entire state of Florida is under a state of emergency.
Here’s why.
This is a satellite view of hurricane Dorian.
It is a massive storm!
It is expected to make landfall as a category four hurricane by Sunday night.
It will be the strongest storm to hit the state in a decade.
Forecasters say 20 inches of rain could be dumped on the state before the storm leaves.
But emergency management officials are warning people not to wait until the storm hits to get ready.
Take action now and start preparing!
Floridians are heeding the warning.
They are lined up at gas stations and emptying shelves in stores across the state.
Officials are suggesting people stock up on at least seven days worth of the water.
850,000 bottles of water and 1.8 million meals have already been sent to counties that will be impacted first.
There are no mandatory evacuation orders in place but officials say it is important to know your evacuation routes and nearest shelter in advance of the evacuation order.
