Colts QB Andrew Luck announces retirement (8.25.19)
NFL fans were shocked when Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck announced he’s done.
He’s out of the game for good.
Luck announced his retirement Saturday night.
According to ESPN, Luck was supposed to officially break the news on Sunday.
But information leaked out during last night’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Some fans didn’t take the news lightly.
They booed Luck when he exited the field following the Colts loss.
During his press conference after the game, Luck got a little emotional as he explained his reason for retiring.
He said for the past four years he has been in a vicious, unrelenting cycle of injury–pain–rehab, injury–pain–rehab.
He led the Colts to the playoffs in his first three seasons in the NFL.
But since 2015, injuries have kept him on the bench for several games including the entire 2017 season.
Luck says due to those injuries, it just wasn’t fun playing football anymore.
He also said the injuries prevented him from living the life he wants to live off the field.
Luck says this was the hardest decision of his life but he knows it was the right one.
