Universal Pictures announced it’s canceling the release of the movie “The Hunt.”
The cancellation comes a week after mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
The satirical thriller is about twelve strangers who wake up in a clearing, not yet aware they are the targets of a violent and bloody hunt where every year “elites” hunt average Americans for sport.
The movie was set to open in theaters September 27 but Universal said in part, “We understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”
Universal did not respond when asked if the decision was directly related to those shootings and the studio did not give a date for when the film might be released in the future.
