This next story sounds like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Scientists say there is a massive asteroid hurtling toward Earth and is larger than the Empire State building.
Wait! Before you freak out, scientists say there’s nothing to worry about.
Asteroid 2006 QQ23 is massive but it’s not expected to hit us.
Instead, the asteroid, which is nearly 5 million miles away, will zoom past Earth on August 10.
In fact, scientists say giant rocks whizzing by Earth are a fairly common occurrence.
Researchers at NASA say asteroids the size of 2006 QQ23 pass by Earth roughly half a dozen times a year and there are 900 other asteroids in our solar system bigger than this one.
But NASA says it has technology to track them and send them on another path if necessary.
So for now, we’re safe.
