There were two big developments in trials involving former Trump associates today.
First, Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort was found guilty on eight counts of financial crimes.
He was charged with 18 counts of tax evasion, bank fraud, and hiding foreign bank accounts.
The judge in the case declared a mistrial on the other 10 counts.
Also today Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen surrendered to the FBI today.
He is expected to enter a deal with the government in which he pleads guilty to multiple counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud and bank fraud.
Cohen admitted he violated campaign finance laws in relation to payments to former porn star stormy Daniels at President Trump’s direction.
The deal would include jail time and a substantial monetary fine.
According to one source, both sides are negotiating over jail time.
Prosecutors are seeking up to five years.
Cohen wants three years.
