First of all take a look at this.
This is a live picture from the Staples Center in Los Angeles where thousands of people have been there all night to mourn Kobe Bryant.
A massive memorial continues to grow outside Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Thousands of people stayed in front of the arena overnight mourning the loss of one of the greatest basketball players to ever take the court ñ Kobe Bryant.
Bryant, who spent his entire 20-year professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers, died in a helicopter crash Sunday along with his thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others on board.
They were traveling to the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks for a basketball game.
Bryant’s death comes one day after Lebron James passed Bryant as number three on the NBA all time scoring list with 3,643 points.
This is the tweet Bryant sent out to James on Saturday night.
It says “Continuing to move the game forward King James. Much respect my brother.”
In addition to the vigil Staples Center in Los Angeles, thousands of miles away in New York City, the outside of Madison Square Garden honored Bryant by lighting up the side of the building with his image.
And this is video obtained by CNN.
It shows the Lady Mavericks basketball team kneeling and mourning the death of Bryant and daughter Gigi at the Mamba Sports Academy.
The team was playing in the Mamba Cup basketball tournament.
Gigi was expected to play in the game and Bryant was expected to coach.
We’ve also learned Italy, where Bryant grew up, will mourn the basketball player’s death for a full week.
The Italian basketball Federation announced every professional team at all levels will pay homage to Bryant with a moment of silence in every game for seven days.
