Dorian slammed into the Bahamas as a category five storm Sunday night, the strongest storm to ever hit the island.
Bahamas prime minister says the devastation is unprecedented.
Authorities say an eight-year-old boy drowned in rising waters and his mother is missing.
There have also been numerous reports of more casualties but officials say that cannot be confirmed until they see the evidence for themselves.
Whipping winds of 180 mph pulverized cars and homes, leaving many residents homeless.
Forecasters say the biggest problem is the massive storm is only moving about 1 mph, slower than walking pace.
That means it’s pounding the same decimated area over and over again causing absolute devastation.
Officials have warned residents not to go outside due to downed power lines, lampposts and trees and catastrophic storm surge flooding.
Right now the National Weather Service says hurricane Dorian continues to fluctuate between category four and category five.
