Police in California arrested 51-year-old Chuyen Vo, charging him with the brutal stabbing death of his coworker 57-year-old Steven Shek Keung Chan.
Police say Chan was found dead in his car in the parking lot of the campus of Cal State Fullerton early Monday morning.
He had been stabbed multiple times.
Surveillance video captured a man dressed in all black running from the scene.
Staff and students spent this week on edge, thinking there was a murderer on the loose, or worse, walking around campus.
However while investigating the crime scene, police found a backpack under Chan’s car.
It contained items that could be used for an abduction: a knife, which was not used in the stabbing, along with zip ties, wigs and other disguise materials.
Authorities say those items help lead them to Vo.
He was arrested at his Huntington Beach home.
Vo and Chan were coworkers but police didn’t comment on their relationship beyond that.
Now police are working to unravel why Vo wanted to kill his coworker.
The university’s president says with the arrest, they can now begin to grieve and heal.
