Chances are you have seen electronic scooters all over the place in the city you live in.
Well here in Atlanta where our studio is located, people won’t be seeing any e-scooters after the sun goes down.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms just instituted a new rule: no renting or riding e-scooters or e-bikes from 9 PM to 4 AM daily.
There have been four fatalities in Atlanta involving e-scooters this year.
Lance-Bottoms says all of the deadly accidents happened after sunset and safety of everyone on the road must be considered.
The new rule goes into effect today (Friday).
Electronic scooter rental companies have been told to disable the vehicles during the banned hours.
City leaders are also researching potential changes to streets to designate lanes for scooters and bikes.
Atlanta isn’t the only city concerned about safety risks posed by scooters.
Paris is banning them from sidewalks starting next month.
