In Southern California at least four people are dead and two others have been left wounded after a known gang member, thirty-three-year-old Zachary Castaneda, went on a violent stabbing spree in the cities of Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
Two men were found dead in an apartment in Garden Grove, another man was stabbed to death at a Subway in Santa Ana and the fourth victim was killed at a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana.
Police say Castaneda then attacked a man pumping gas, severing his nose off of his face and stabbing him in the back.
Then he walked into an insurance business and stabbed a woman several times.
The attacks all happened one right after another over a span of about two hours.
Police say the man savagely attacked at the gas station is expected to survive.
He is undergoing surgery to try to reattach his nose to his face.
The woman attacked at the insurance office is also expected to live.
Police say this was not a hate crime, just a random act of violence committed by a “guy who unleashed evil across to counties.”
Castaneda has been charged with four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The district attorney says Castaneda could face the death penalty.
