House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is under pressure this week after majority of House Democrats publicly go on record supporting an impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
And that’s significant because Pelosi has been trying to hold her party back.
Initially the group of Democrats calling for an inquiry were mostly comprised of progressives.
But several mainstream Democrats have now joined in.
According to CNN, of the 235 Democrats in the house, 118 have made comments advocating for starting the impeachment inquiry process.
Recently Pelosi released a statement arguing Democrats should stay the course and now is not necessarily the best time for impeachment.
She said she is not stalling and the President will be held accountable but “we will proceed when we have what we need to proceed, not one day sooner.”
