Today President Trump made history by becoming the first sitting US president to step into North Korea.
As he walked into North Korea’s demilitarized zone, North Korean president Kim Jong Un could be overheard telling Trump “It is good to see you again. I never expected to meet you at this place.”
Trump says the meeting was unplanned.
He was in Japan for the G20 summit with other world leaders and decided to drop in to meet with Kim.
After posing for photos, the two leaders went behind closed doors for an hour-long private meeting.
Trump said he and Kim agreed to revive denuclearization talks that had collapsed after their last summit in February.
Kim says Trump’s actions are “an expression of his willingness to eliminate the unfortunate past and open a new future.”
