On September 19, 2017 a massive earthquake struck Mexico, killing 300 people.
During the rescue effort, a yellow Labrador Retriever named Frida became a worldwide symbol of hope after she rescued 12 people alive.
Earlier this week the Mexican Navy announced Frida is retiring after 10 years of service.
In addition to the 2017 earthquake, Frida assisted in the rescue operations in Haiti in 2010, Guatemala in 2012 in Ecuador in 2016.
Frida received a special toy in honor of her retirement but officials didn’t say what it was.
They simply said the toy symbolizes the beginning of Frida’s new life.
Frida will now remain in the permanent custody of the Mexican Navy canine patrol.
