A waiter who was stiffed on a tip had a chance to turn the other cheek.
Recently waiter Armando Markaj was flagged down by a guest at the New York pizzeria where he works.
The woman was upset about the lack of women featured in pictures on the wall.
Markaj says he attempted to answer with humor by saying maybe women don’t eat pizza.
The woman was not unamused and left behind only a note reading “Women don’t tip either.”
But that’s not all she left behind.
Markaj later discovered she left an envelope containing a cashiers check for $434,000.
Some people might have chosen payback but Markaj took the higher road.
He and his boss tracked the woman down to return the money.
Turns out, it was her life savings.
She was using it to buy a home.
The woman apologized and thanked Markaj, offering him a tip.
Markaj refused to accept it.
He said it wasn’t about the money.
It’s about doing the right thing.
