We have an update to a story that we brought you last week.
Police in Texas are still looking for this little girl Maleah Davis.
Her stepfather Darion Vence claims he was driving with his one-year-old son and Maleah to the airport to pick up her mother when he pulled over to investigate a popping noise and was then attacked and knocked unconscious by three strangers in a blue truck.
When he woke up a day later, he said Maleah was gone.
But investigators said the story didn’t add up.
Now police have booked Vence on suspicion of tampering with evidence, namely a human corpse.
Police say they found blood evidence linked to Maleah in Vence’s apartment but they have not said if the body of the little girl has been found.
Vence was arrested Saturday at a relative’s house.
In Texas tampering with a human corpse is a second-degree felony.
If convicted, Vence could get between 2 and 20 years in jail.
He’s due in court on Monday.
