Police say missing University of South Carolina student Samantha Josephson has been found dead.
The 21-year-old got into a black Chevy Impala early Friday morning after being separated from her roommates during a night out in Columbia.
Police believe she mistakenly got into a car, thinking it was her Uber ride.
But it wasn’t.
About 14 hours later, turkey hunters found Josephson’s body in a field 90 miles from the city.
Police tracked down the car she got into and arrested 24-year-old Nathaniel David Rowland on murder and kidnapping charges.
Police have not said how Josephson died.
Uber declined to comment.
But its online safety tips advise riders to check the license plate, driver photo and driver name that’s listed in the app before getting in a vehicle.
