North Korea is blaming the United States for the fail summit between President Trump and Kim Jong-Un.
On Thursday North Korean TV showed an hour-long documentary praising what it called Kim’s triumphant and successful summit, one full of red carpets and motorcades, handshakes and smiles.
But last night, North Korea’s state media changed course, admitting for the first time that no deal was reached.
Initially both sides kept up a good face during the summit, with Kim telling reporters he would discuss getting rid of his nuclear weapons.
But a source told CNN things went sour when the US refused to lift all sanctions against North Korea in exchange for Kim’s offer to only shut down his main nuclear fuel factory.
Trump walked away from the deal.
However North Korea says he only requested a partial lifting of the sanctions.
Kim had been dismantling North Korea’s nuclear facilities last year after tensions with the US began to thaw.
But by Saturday, satellite imagery showed the walls had been rebuilt and the roof restored.
A State Department official says the US has not yet determined whether the site is now operational again but is watching it closely and will ask North Korea for an explanation.
