There was explosive testimony on Capitol Hill today as President Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen testified in front of the House oversight committee.
In Cohen’s opening statement, he called Trump a racist, a cheat and a con man.
Cohen provided documents that he says proves Trump paid him $130,000 to keep the details of an affair with a porn star from becoming public before the election.
Cohen alleged Trump knew ahead of time that WikiLeaks intended to release emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016.
Cohen was asked if he had direct evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia to win the election.
He said he did not.
Republican lawmakers ripped into Cohen’s credibility, saying he himself is a disbarred attorney and a convicted felon who is going to prison in May for three years for tax crimes, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress in previous testimony.
Arizona representative Paul Gobar brought in a sign and placed it behind the committee.
It said: “Liar, liar pants on fire.”
On Tuesday Cohen testified in front of the Senate intelligence committee behind closed doors.
On Thursday he will testify in front of the House intelligence committee behind closed doors.
