Search crews in Fountain, Colorado are hoping that they will find the remains of Kelsey Berreth and any other evidence as they sift through the Midway landfill.
Berreth’s fiance and father of their daughter, Patrick Frazee, is accused of killing her in November.
Frazee’s mistress told police that Frazee beat Berreth with a baseball bat and burned her body in a water trough before disposing of her body.
That confession led investigators to the landfill.
Ten searchers are expected to work eight hours a day to make it through the area, which is roughly the size of two tennis courts and 9 feet deep.
They began on Tuesday and will continue for at least the next 35 days or until they make it through the area.
