Nearly 500 million customers of Starwood hotels and resorts may have had their personal information stolen after the hotel’s database was hacked.
The Marriott Hotel chain includes St. Regis, Westin, Sheraton, and “W” hotels.
The company says the breach was identified last week but the hacking has been occurring since 2014.
Names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, passport numbers, and credit card information may have been compromised.
The hack has been reported to law enforcement.
Marriott said it will begin emailing guests affected by the breach and has started an informational website.
