President Trump took center stage at the United Nations General Assembly this morning.
In his address to the Assembly, he emphasized the message that he’s been stressing since he became president: He’s putting America first, saying America will never apologize for protecting its citizens.
He also defended his decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Accord and the UN Human Rights Council, a decision that put him at odds with key US allies.
There was also an interesting and uncomfortable moment during Trump’s speech when he started bragging, saying his administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in US history.
Normally that line gets big applause at his campaign rallies.
UN diplomats were not impressed and they laughed at him.
Trump’s response: “I didn’t expect that reaction but it’s okay.”
