Former FOX 5 Atlanta Anchor Launches Ground Breaking
Digital Network SIGN1NEWS for Deaf Community
Atlanta, GA, January 5, 2017 – Karen Graham, former FOX 5 Good Day Atlanta anchor, launches a pioneering enterprise, SIGN1NEWS, to serve the Deaf community.
SIGN1NEWS is the first and only network-affiliated, national digital broadcast to provide online news and information completely in American Sign Language. SIGN1NEWS is an affiliate of world news leader CNN and will provide equal access to local, regional and national news and information to the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community via a daily post-produced broadcast. The same stories seen on CNN will be seen on SIGN1NEWS in ASL. SIGN1NEWS will air 7 days a week, twice a day with a morning newscast at 10:00am and an evening newscast at 7:00pm. The SIGN1NEWS broadcast will be accessible on a loop anytime of the day.
Graham has always had a calling to be involved with the Deaf community and after a 20 year career in TV broadcasting, she knew the time was right to answer the call. “The Deaf community has a special place in my heart, so I knew my next career step would fall in this area. I am so excited to combine my professional experience with an unprecedented service for the Deaf community. Now Deaf people will have a media outlet designed specifically for them. There’s nothing like this out there,” said Graham.
Graham is on a nationwide search for the best-of-the-best, hearing or Deaf, to staff the news enterprise. Positions include anchors, editors, social media experts and many others. Everyone who applies must be proficient in English and ASL. Please go to www.sign1news.com for details.
According to research, 70 million people worldwide use sign language. 27 million are in the United States. Advances in technology have led to a nationwide call in the Deaf community for equal access to information in American Sign Language. SIGN1NEWS is answering the call — in an unprecedented way.
